Gallaunmore is a giant standing stone located in County Kerry, Ireland. It's also known as the Ballineetig Standing Stone. This ancient monument is so important that it's protected as a National Monument of Ireland.
Archaeologists believe Gallaunmore was put in place a very long time ago. It was built between 4000 and 2500 BC. That means it's over 4,500 years old!
Where is Gallaunmore?
You can find Gallaunmore in a beautiful part of Ireland, County Kerry. It's about 3 kilometers (2 miles) east of the town of Dingle. It's also about 4 kilometers (2.5 miles) west of Lispole. The stone stands near the N86 road and the Trabeg Estuary.
What Does Gallaunmore Look Like?
Gallaunmore is a truly impressive sight. It stands about 4.2 meters (13.8 feet) tall. That's taller than a regular basketball hoop! The stone is also about 1.8 meters (5.9 feet) wide. The sides of the stone, especially the northwest and southeast parts, get narrower towards the very top.
