Garden Valley was once a small community in Yuba County, California. It is no longer there today.

What Was Garden Valley?

Garden Valley was a place where people used to live. It was known as a "settlement," which is another word for a small town or community. It was located in the beautiful state of California.

Where Was This Place?

Garden Valley was found in Yuba County, which is in the northern part of California. It was about 3.25 miles (5.2 kilometers) west-southwest of a town called Camptonville. The area was quite high up, at an elevation of 1,909 feet (582 meters) above sea level. Imagine being almost 2,000 feet up!

Why Did Garden Valley Disappear?

The most interesting thing about Garden Valley is that it's now completely underwater! The settlement was covered by the waters of the Bullards Bar Reservoir. This reservoir is a large lake created by a dam. When the dam was built and the reservoir filled up, Garden Valley became submerged. It's like a lost town beneath the waves.
