Garey Ingram's Baseball Journey

Starting in the Minors

Garey Ingram was chosen by the Los Angeles Dodgers in the 1989 MLB amateur draft. This happened after he played baseball at Middle Georgia College. He spent several years playing in the Dodgers' minor league teams.

His professional baseball career began in 1991 with the Bakersfield Dodgers. That year, he played very well, hitting for a .297 batting average. He also stole 30 bases, showing his speed on the field. From 1992 to 1994, Garey played for the Dodgers' Double-A team, the San Antonio Missions.

Making it to the Major Leagues

Garey Ingram made his first appearance in Major League Baseball on May 15, 1994. He joined the Los Angeles Dodgers in a game against the San Diego Padres. He came into the game as a defensive replacement.

Just a few days later, on May 19, he hit his first career home run. This exciting moment happened against Colorado Rockies pitcher Mike Munoz. In 1994, Garey played in 26 games for the Dodgers. He hit .282, had 3 home runs, and brought in 8 runs for his team.

In 1995, Garey split his time between the Dodgers and their AAA team, the Albuquerque Dukes. He missed most of the 1996 season because of an injury. After that, he played for San Antonio in 1997 and Albuquerque in 1998.

Later, in 1999, the Boston Red Sox signed him as a minor league free agent. He played two seasons with the Pawtucket Red Sox. After that, he played independent baseball in 2001. In 2002, he returned to the Dodgers' new AAA team, the Las Vegas 51s, before he retired from playing.

Life After Playing: Coaching

In 2007 and 2008, he was the hitting coach for the Great Lakes Loons. This team is part of Single-A baseball. In 2009, he coached hitting for the Connecticut Defenders. After that season, the Atlanta Braves hired him. He became the hitting coach for their AA team, the Mississippi Braves.
