Garwood got its name a long time ago. A post office opened there in 1907. A post office is where people send and receive mail. This post office served the community for many years. It closed down in 1954. People believe Garwood was named after someone important in the local logging business. Logging means cutting down trees to use the wood. This industry was very important in the area back then.
