Life and Work in Ireland
Gabrielli came to Ireland in 1805. He was invited by Baron Cloncurry. The Baron wanted Gabrielli to decorate his family's country home. This house is now known as Lyons Demesne in County Kildare. Baron Cloncurry also brought many old treasures from Italy to decorate his home.
Artistic Creations at Lyons
At Lyons Demesne, Gabrielli created several important paintings. These included "The Bay of Dublin" in the dining room. He also painted "Views of Herculaneum" on panels in a smaller drawing room. These artworks showed his skill in capturing landscapes.
Other Projects and Exhibitions
Gabrielli also painted frescoes in other places. He worked at Tandragee Castle for Lady Olivia Sparrow. He also decorated a drawing-room at No. 41 North Great George's Street in Dublin.
His drawings were even featured in books. In Cromwell's Excursions through Ireland (published in 1820), two of Gabrielli's drawings were used. These showed "Carlow Castle" and "Drimnagh Castle".
While in Dublin, Gabrielli was a very active landscape painter. He showed his art in many exhibitions between 1809 and 1814. In 1811, he became the vice-president of the Society of Artists of Ireland.
Return to Italy
In 1819, Gabrielli went back to Italy. He continued to send some of his paintings to Ireland. However, it seems he did not return to live there himself.
