Gayesha Perera (Sinhala: ගයේෂා පෙරේරා) was born on October 24, 1987. Her full name is Wickramarachchige Gayesha Lakmali Perera. She is a well-known person from Sri Lanka. Gayesha is famous for many things, including being a politician, an actress, a TV host, and a model. She also won the title of Miss Sri Lanka for Miss International in 2006.
Early Life
Gayesha Perera grew up in Colombo, Sri Lanka. She went to school at Subodha Balika Vidyalaya in Dehiwala. Later, she attended Girls’ High School in Mount Lavinia. While at Girls' High School, she was a school prefect. This shows she was a dedicated student and a good leader. Gayesha is married to Hasanjith Kuruppuarachchige, who is a singer and a businessman.
Education
Gayesha has studied a lot to help her career. She has a special Diploma in Governance, Democratization, and Public Policy. She earned this from the Colombo Institute of Social Sciences. She is also studying for another Diploma in Early Childhood Education. This is from UCLA Extension, which is a university in the United States.
Beauty Pageants
Gayesha Perera is famous for her success in beauty pageants. In 2006, she won the title of Miss Sri Lanka for Miss International. This allowed her to represent Sri Lanka at the Miss International competition. This big event was held in China and Japan.
Three years later, in 2009, she competed in the Miss Tourism Queen International pageant. This competition took place in Wuhan, China. There, she won a special award called Miss Talent.
In 2011, Gayesha also took part in the Avirate Miss Sri Lanka for Miss Universe competition. She won the Miss Congeniality title, which means she was very friendly and well-liked by the other contestants.
In 2012, Gayesha proudly represented Sri Lanka again. She went to the Miss Asia Pacific World beauty pageant in South Korea. She was one of the Top 6 finalists, which is a great achievement. She also won two more titles: Miss Personality and Best National Costume. These awards showed her charm and how well she represented her country's culture.
The next year, in 2013, Gayesha continued her journey. She competed in the Miss Supranational pageant in Belarus. She made it into the Top 15 contestants there. Her many achievements have made her one of the few Sri Lankan beauty queens. She has represented her country at several important international pageants.
Politics
Gayesha Perera decided to enter politics in Sri Lanka. She comes from a family that has been involved in politics in Dehiwala-Mount Lavinia. She started her political journey with the Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP).
She was the Chairperson of the SLFP Women’s Wing in Dehiwala-Mount Lavinia. She was also a member of the SLFP National Women’s Wing. Throughout her time in the party, she held different important roles.
In 2017, she successfully ran for a position in the Dehiwala-Mount Lavinia Municipal Council. She won this election as a member of the SLFP.
Gayesha is also well-known for speaking up for women's and children's rights. She has actively worked to make things better for them. She also fights against unfair politicians. She continues to work for these important causes in her political career.

Gayesha has acted in several films. In 2009, she was in a Russian documentary film called Rama's Bridge. She played the role of Seetha. In 2010, she acted in the film Flying Fish. She played a character named Wasana. She also appeared in the Sinhala romantic films Bonikka (2015), Sihinayaki Adare (2024), and Bambara Wasanthe (2024). In Bambara Wasanthe, she played Nirasha.
She has also been in many teledramas, which are like TV series. Some of these include Nim Walalla, Pas Mal Pethi, Oba Mageya, Kinduru Kodewwa, Denuwara Kirana, Samanalee, Kindurangana, Sihina Sithuvam, Adara Ridma, Samanalunta Wedi Tiyanna, Bonda Meedum, and Dooli Pintaru.

Gayesha has also hosted TV programs. From 2009 to 2010, she hosted Rasata Rasak on Sirasa TV. In 2010, she hosted Rasa Meewitha on Siyatha TV. She also hosted Netra on Sirasa TV from 2010 to 2011.
She has appeared in music videos for popular songs. These include Adare Ma Niwalai by Amila Perera, Igilenna Thahanam Nam by Nirosha Wirajani, and Pini Muthu Sulange by Uresha Ravihari.
Gayesha Perera also took part in reality shows. She was on the Sirasa Dancing Stars show. She also participated in the Derana Star City season 1 reality show.
