Gayesha Perera is a well-known person from Sri Lanka. She is a politician, an actress, a TV host, and a model. She also won a big beauty pageant title. She was crowned Miss Sri Lanka for Miss International in 2006.

Early Life and Education

Gayesha Perera was born in Colombo, Sri Lanka, on October 24, 1987. She went to Subodha Balika Vidyalaya and Girls’ High School. At Girls’ High School, she was a school prefect, which means she was a student leader.

She is married to Hasanjith Kuruppuarachchige, who is a singer and a businessman. Gayesha has also studied a lot. She has a special diploma in how governments work and public policy. She is also studying early childhood education.

Beauty Pageant Journey

In 2006, Gayesha won the Miss Sri Lanka for Miss International title. This allowed her to represent Sri Lanka at the Miss International competition. This big event took place in China and Japan.

Three years later, in 2009, she competed in the Miss Tourism Queen International pageant. This competition was held in Wuhan, China.

In 2011, Gayesha took part in the Avirate Miss Sri Lanka for Miss Universe competition. There, she won the "Miss Congeniality" title. This award is given to the contestant who is the most friendly and kind.

International Achievements

In 2012, Gayesha proudly represented Sri Lanka again. She competed in the Miss Asia Pacific World beauty pageant in South Korea. She did very well, making it into the Top 6 finalists. At this event, she also won two special titles: Miss Personality and Best National Costume. These awards showed her unique charm and talent.

The next year, in 2013, Gayesha continued her success. She competed in the Miss Supranational pageant in Belarus. She was among the Top 15 contestants there. Her many achievements have made her one of the few beauty queens from Sri Lanka to compete in so many major international pageants. She has brought great honor to her country.

Political Career

Gayesha Perera became involved in Sri Lankan politics after gaining public attention. She started her political journey with the Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP). Her family has also been active in politics in the Dehiwala-Mount Lavinia area.

She served as the leader of the SLFP Women’s Wing in Dehiwala-Mount Lavinia. She was also a member of the SLFP National Women’s Wing. Throughout her career, she held several important roles within the party.

In 2017, she successfully ran for a seat on the Dehiwala-Mount Lavinia Municipal Council. She won this election as a member of the SLFP.

Gayesha is also well-known for speaking up for others. She strongly supports the rights of women and children. She has actively worked against dishonest politicians. She continues to fight for these important causes in her political work.
