Gedling Country Park is a large country park located in Gedling, Nottingham, England. It offers a great space for outdoor activities and learning about nature.

Park History: From Coal Mine to Green Space

Gedling Country Park sits on the land where the Gedling Colliery once stood. This was a coal mine that closed down in 1991. After the mine closed, the area was used for a short time as a place where people could take their rubbish.

In 2015, the site was officially opened as a country park. This was a big change from its industrial past. Two years later, in 2017, a café and visitor centre called Café 1899 opened. This building cost about £1.5 million to build.

Fun for Kids: Themed Playground

A special children's playground was also built in 2017. It cost around £200,000. The playground has a cool theme that reminds visitors of the old coal mine. It was designed by a company called Proludic.
