Early Life and Music Journey
James Roston grew up moving around a lot. His father was in the US military. This meant the family traveled to different places where his father was stationed. In 1986, when James was four years old, his father passed away while trying to save someone else.
Later, James moved to Long Island, New York with his mother and brother. A year after that, he started playing the piano. He also began writing poetry. He was inspired by singers like Prince and D’Angelo. Because of them, Gene Noble decided to become a music artist.
On March 4, 2014, Gene Noble released his first music collection. It was called Rebirth of Gene. People described his music as having amazing vocals and cool electronic sounds. He also released his own version of the 2013 song "Say Something" by A Great Big World.
In 2015, he released a song called "Trust." Later, on October 6, 2017, he released the single "Never Know."
In 2017, Gene Noble released the song "Stolen Moments." This song featured another artist named LaChardon. "Stolen Moments" was later included on his first full album, The Cost. Gene Noble said the song is about two people. They cannot officially be together because of other situations. But they still find time to spend with each other.
In 2019, he performed with Sting and Shaggy. This was for NPR's Tiny Desk Concert series. His singing was a big part of the last song. It was a mix of Sting's "Shape of My Heart" and Juice Wrld's "Lucid Dreams."
