About Gene Pompa
Generoso Pompa was born in Alexandria, Egypt, in 1952. He moved to Rome, Italy, in 1962. There, he studied art and learned how to paint murals.
He started his journey as a painter in the 1970s. He learned a lot about art by studying and copying famous artworks from the past. Since the 1990s, he has been a full-time artist. He creates different kinds of paintings. Some are dream-like, called surreal works. Others are beautiful pictures of nature, known as landscapes.
His Unique Painting Style
What makes Gene Pompa's paintings special is his "relief technique." He uses a painting knife and brushes to make his oil paintings look three-dimensional. This means the paint stands out from the canvas, almost like it's popping out!
Exhibitions and Recognition
Gene Pompa has shown his art in many places. He has had over 100 solo shows. He has also taken part in more than 600 art exhibitions. These shows were both in Italy and around the world. His art has been displayed in public and private art galleries and museums.
In 2013, a special book about his art was published. It was called a monograph. Another book about his work, called MyArt, came out in 2016. Some of his paintings were even used as part of the set for a TV show in Italy called GEO on RAI 3 in 2014. Today, Gene Pompa lives and works in both Rome and Spoleto.
