Geoff Pierson is an American actor. He is well-known for his roles in many TV shows. These include Dexter, Unhappily Ever After, and Designated Survivor. He has also appeared in popular shows like Friends and Monk.

Geoff Pierson's Acting Career
Geoff Pierson started his acting career on Broadway. He also acted in many plays in different theaters. He appeared in New York soap operas too. One of his first big TV roles was as Frank Ryan. He played this character on the show Ryan's Hope from 1983 to 1985.
Early TV Roles
Pierson's first major role on a prime-time TV show was Jack Malloy. He played the dad in the sitcom Unhappily Ever After. This show was created by Ron Leavitt. Ron Leavitt also helped create Married... with Children. Geoff Pierson also had a main role as R.T. Howard on That 80's Show. He appeared often on Grace Under Fire and In Plain Sight. In 2001, he was a guest star on Friends. He played Chandler's boss, Mr. Franklin, in an episode called "The One with Rachel's Date."
Later TV and Film Work
From 2006 to 2013, Geoff Pierson played Captain Tom Matthews. This was on the Showtime series Dexter. He also appeared in two episodes of Veronica Mars. In these episodes, he played Stewart Manning.
Pierson has also acted in several movies. He was in the 2008 film Changeling. In this movie, he played a lawyer named Sammy "S.S." Hahn. He also played Attorney General A. Mitchell Palmer in the 2011 movie J. Edgar. Both of these films were directed by Clint Eastwood.
Starting in 2010, he had a role in Boardwalk Empire. He played Senator Walter Edge. In 2011, Pierson played Midas Mulligan in Atlas Shrugged. This movie was based on a famous novel. He also played a wealthy father in Rules of Engagement. He had a recurring role as Mr. Smith on Castle.
In 2015, he co-starred in the HBO show The Brink. He played Defense Secretary Pierce Grey. From 2017 to 2019, he starred in Designated Survivor. In this show, he played former U.S. President Cornelius Moss. He acted alongside Kiefer Sutherland.
