George's Personality
George is known for his long eyelashes and gentle nature. He often seems a bit quieter than his friends. Sometimes, the more outgoing Zippy might seem to get the better of him. However, just like in the story of The Tortoise and the Hare, George usually wins in the end. He shows that being steady and kind can lead to success. George also really enjoyed listening to stories from the Rainbow book.

George's Special Goodbye
George had a unique way of saying goodbye at the end of each show. After Geoffrey, Zippy, Bungle, Rod, Jane, and Freddy said their goodbyes, there would be a short pause. Then, George would say his drawn-out "good by-eye." This special timing was because Roy Skelton voiced both George and Zippy. They couldn't speak at the exact same time.
George's TV Appearances
George has appeared in other TV shows and adverts over the years.
The Weakest Link
In December 2007, George and Zippy were on a special puppet episode of The Weakest Link. This game show was hosted by Anne Robinson. They were the third team to be voted off the show.
Ashes to Ashes
George also appeared with Zippy in the first episode of the BBC TV series Ashes to Ashes. Mark Mander operated George for this show, while Roy Skelton continued to be his voice.
