George Victor Robert John Innes-Ker, the 9th Duke of Roxburghe (born September 7, 1913 – died September 26, 1974), was an important Scottish nobleman. He inherited his title, Duke of Roxburghe, in 1932 after his father passed away. His parents were Henry John Innes-Ker, 8th Duke of Roxburghe and Mary Goelet.

George Victor Robert John Innes-Ker was born on September 7, 1913. His father was Henry Innes-Ker, 8th Duke of Roxburghe (1876–1932). His mother was Mary Goelet (1878–1937). George was born almost ten years after his parents got married.
Growing Up
George grew up at Floors Castle in Scotland. This large estate covered about 60,500 acres. His mother, Mary Goelet, was very wealthy. She used her own art collection to decorate the castle. This collection included beautiful 17th-century tapestries. These tapestries were made by the Gobelins Manufactory.
George's paternal grandmother was Lady Anne Emily Spencer-Churchill. She was the daughter of the 7th Duke of Marlborough. This means George was a distant cousin of Winston Churchill, a famous British Prime Minister. His maternal grandfather, Ogden Goelet, was a rich American real estate owner. His mother was one of the wealthiest American heiresses of her time.
His Marriages and Family
George attended Eton College in England, a well-known school.
On October 24, 1935, he married Lady Mary Evelyn Hungerford Crewe-Milnes. Her father was the 1st Marquess of Crewe. This marriage ended in divorce in 1953.
On January 5, 1954, George married for the second time. He married Margaret Elizabeth McConnel at Caxton Hall. Together, they had two sons:
- Guy David Innes-Ker, 10th Duke of Roxburghe (born November 18, 1954 – died August 29, 2019)
- Lord Robert Anthony Innes-Ker (born May 28, 1959)
The 9th Duke of Roxburghe passed away on September 26, 1974.
