Guy David Innes-Ker, the 10th Duke of Roxburghe, was an important British nobleman. He was born on November 18, 1954, and passed away on August 29, 2019. He was known for managing his family's historic estate, Floors Castle, in Scotland.

Early Life and Education

Guy David Innes-Ker was born in 1954. He was the oldest son of the 9th Duke of Roxburghe, George Innes-Ker, and his second wife, Margaret Elisabeth McConnell. He also had a younger brother, Lord Robert Innes Ker.

He attended Eton College, a famous boarding school in England. After that, he studied Land Economy at Magdalene College, Cambridge University. He also trained at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst. This is where future officers for the British Army are trained. In 1974, he received the Sword of Honour for being an outstanding cadet.

Military Service and the Falklands War

After Sandhurst, Guy Innes-Ker became a Lieutenant in the Blues and Royals regiment. This is a famous cavalry regiment in the British Army.

In 1982, he served in the Falklands War. He was a Troop Leader, commanding 12 soldiers. His troop used light tanks called FV101 Scorpion and FV107 Scimitar. They landed with the 40 Commando Marines and supported them and other units in battles.

Becoming a Duke

In 1974, Guy Innes-Ker's father passed away. This meant he inherited the title of Duke of Roxburghe. He became the 10th Duke. This also made him the most senior baronet in Scotland.

In 1987, he was a judge for a special charity TV show. It was called The Grand Knockout Tournament and involved Prince Edward.

When the 10th Duke passed away, his oldest son, Charles, became the 11th Duke of Roxburghe.

Family Life

The Duke was married two times. His first marriage was in 1977 to Lady Jane Meriel Grosvenor. They had two sons and one daughter together. They later divorced in 1990.
