Charles Robert George Innes-Ker, the 11th Duke of Roxburghe, was born on 18 February 1981. He is also known as Charles Innes or Charlie Roxburghe. Before he became a Duke in 2019, he was known as the Marquess of Bowmont and Cessford. He is a British aristocrat, which means he comes from a family with a long history and special titles. He also served as a military officer.

About Charles Roxburghe

Charles Roxburghe was born in 1981 in Leith, Edinburgh, Scotland. He is the oldest son of the 10th Duke of Roxburghe, Guy Innes-Ker. His mother is Lady Jane Meriel Grosvenor.

His Education and Military Service

Charles went to Eton College, a famous school. After that, he studied at the University of Newcastle upon Tyne.

In 2004, he finished his training at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst. This is a special school for people who want to become officers in the British Army. After his training, he joined a military unit called the Blues and Royals. He served with them in places like Windsor and Iraq.

Becoming a Duke

Before his father passed away in August 2019, Charles was known as the Marquess of Bowmont and Cessford. Instead of just waiting to take over his family's estates, he started a company called Capstar with a fellow officer. This company offered chauffeur services and mostly hired former service members.

When his father died in 2019, Charles became the 11th Duke of Roxburghe. He inherited Floors Castle, a large castle, and about 60,000 acres of land. This land is located around the Cheviot Hills and the River Tweed. He also inherited hotels in the area.

Family Life

On 22 July 2011, Charles married Charlotte Susanna Aitken. She is the daughter of Maxwell Aitken, the 3rd Baron Beaverbrook. However, they separated and divorced less than a year later, in June 2012.

In 2016, he had a daughter named Eugenie Innes-Ker with fashion designer Morvarid Sahafi.

On 30 January 2021, it was announced that he was engaged to Annabel Green. They got married in September 2021 at Floors Castle. After their marriage, Annabel became the Duchess of Roxburghe.

On 28 February 2024, the Duchess gave birth to their son. His name is Frederick Charles Ian Innes-Ker. He is now known as the Marquess of Bowmont and Cessford, as he is the heir to the dukedom.

Clan Innes Chiefship

The Duke of Roxburghe is connected to Clan Innes, a Scottish clan. However, because his last name is Innes-Ker, the official authority for Scottish clans, the Lord Lyon King of Arms, does not recognize him as the chief of the Innes clan.
