George Hidipo Hamba Kambala was born on May 9, 1992. He is a Namibian youth activist. This means he works to help young people. George Kambala, along with Job Amupanda and Dimbulukeni Nauyoma, started a group called Affirmative Repositioning in 2014. This group works to help young Namibians get access to land. He also used to be part of the SWAPO Youth League.
Early Life and Background
George Kambala grew up in Windhoek, the capital city of Namibia. He lived in a part of Windhoek called Katutura. He went to Martti Ahtisaari Primary School when he was younger.
His father worked as a driver. His mother was a nurse in Windhoek.
Standing Up for Youth
George Kambala became known for his work helping young people. He was part of the SWAPO Party Youth League. This is a group for young members of the SWAPO political party.
He and other leaders were later asked to leave the party. This happened because they took part in an action to highlight problems with land. They wanted to show that many young people in Namibia needed land and homes.
The Affirmative Repositioning Movement
In 2014, a newspaper reported something important. It said that the Mayor of Windhoek had given a piece of land to someone famous. George Kambala and his friends, Dimbulukeni Nauyoma and Job Amupanda, felt this was unfair.
They believed that many ordinary Namibians, especially young people, found it hard to get land or affordable homes. To show their concern, they went to a piece of land in Windhoek. They wanted to bring attention to the problem.
This action led them to start the Affirmative Repositioning movement. The main goal of this group is to speak up for young Namibians. They want to make sure young people have a fair chance to get land and housing.
