George Krieger Kittle (born October 9, 1993) is a famous American football player. He plays as a tight end for the San Francisco 49ers in the National Football League (NFL). George played college football for the Iowa Hawkeyes. The 49ers picked him in the fifth round of the 2017 NFL draft. He has been chosen for the Pro Bowl six times. He was also named a first-team All-Pro in 2019 and 2023, which means he was one of the best players in his position in those years.

George Kittle's Early Life and Family
George Kittle was born in Madison, Wisconsin. In 2000, his family moved to Iowa. He went to high schools in Iowa and Oklahoma. George decided to play college football at the University of Iowa.
His father, Bruce Kittle, was also a football player at Iowa. He was a co-captain of the 1982 Rose Bowl team. Bruce also coached college football. George's mother, Jan Krieger, is in the Iowa Girls’ High School Athletic Union Hall of Fame. She played softball and was an All-America basketball player at Drake University.

George Kittle played for the Iowa Hawkeyes from 2012 to 2016.
Starting Out at Iowa (2012-2014)
When George was a freshman, he didn't play much. There were many older tight ends on the team. He made his first college catch for 47 yards against Missouri State. In his first year, he caught five passes for 108 yards.
In 2014, George still had a small role. He only caught one pass for 25 yards all season.
Expanding His Role (2015-2016)
George's playing time grew in the 2015 season. He scored his first college touchdown against North Texas. It was a 43-yard catch from quarterback C. J. Beathard. That season, George caught 20 passes for 290 yards. He also scored six touchdowns. His six touchdowns were among the best in the Big Ten Conference.

Professional Football Career

Joining the San Francisco 49ers (2017)
The San Francisco 49ers picked George Kittle in the fifth round of the 2017 NFL draft. He was the 146th player chosen. He joined his college teammate, C. J. Beathard, on the 49ers. George signed a four-year contract worth about $2.69 million.
He became the starting tight end for the 49ers right away. In his first NFL game, he caught five passes for 27 yards. On October 8, 2017, he caught his first NFL touchdown. He finished his first season with 43 catches for 515 yards and two touchdowns. He played in 15 games.
Breaking Records (2018)
In 2018, George Kittle had an amazing season. In Week 4, he had an 82-yard touchdown catch. He gained 125 yards in that game. In Week 14, he set a new team record for tight ends. George Kittle loves professional wrestling. His favorite wrestler is Penta, and he often uses Penta's "Cero Miedo" (which means "No Fear" in Spanish) move when he gets a first down in a game. When the 49ers played in Mexico City in 2022, Penta gave George a special 49ers-themed lucha mask.
