George Aaron McCloud (born May 27, 1967) is a former American basketball player. He played for eleven seasons in the National Basketball Association (NBA).

Early Life and College Basketball
George McCloud grew up in Daytona Beach, Florida. He went to Mainland High School there. After high school, he attended Florida State University in Tallahassee.
While playing for Florida State, George was a very talented player. Many people thought he would be a great player in the NBA. He was one of the most talked-about basketball players in his school's history.
Playing in the NBA
George McCloud was chosen by the Indiana Pacers in the 1989 NBA Draft. He was the 7th player picked overall in the first round. He played for the Pacers for four seasons.
During the 1992 NBA Playoffs, George played very well. He averaged 11.5 points and 3 assists per game. The Pacers played against the Boston Celtics but lost in the first round. After four seasons, he left the Pacers. He then played basketball in Italy for a year.
Joining the Dallas Mavericks
In the middle of the 1994–95 season, George joined the Dallas Mavericks. He had a fantastic season in 1995–96 with the Mavericks. He played in 79 games and averaged 18.9 points per game.
During this time, he set an NBA record for the most three-point shots attempted in one season. He was known for being a great three-point shooter throughout his career. In a game against the New Jersey Nets on March 5, 1996, he attempted 20 three-pointers, making seven of them. This is the second-highest number of three-point attempts in a single NBA game.
NBA All-Star Weekend
In 1996, George McCloud took part in the Three-point Shootout at the NBA All-Star Weekend. This is a fun competition where players show off their three-point shooting skills. He made it to the semifinal round but did not win the competition.
Later Career and Retirement
After playing for the Mavericks, George also played for other NBA teams. These included the Los Angeles Lakers and the Phoenix Suns. During the 1998 NBA Playoffs, while with the Suns, he averaged 14.3 points per game. The Suns played against the San Antonio Spurs but lost in the first round.
Later, he played for the Denver Nuggets. George McCloud played a total of 12 years in the NBA. His career lasted from 1989 to 2002. In his NBA career, he played in 766 games. He scored a total of 6,925 points. He also had 2,342 rebounds and 1,769 assists.
