George Throckmorton facts for kids
Sir George Throckmorton (born around 1480 – died 1552) was an important person in England during the time of King Henry VIII. He lived at Coughton Court in Warwickshire. He was a Member of Parliament, which means he helped make laws for the country.

Family Background
Sir George Throckmorton was born before 1489 in Worcestershire. He was the oldest son of Sir Robert Throckmorton, who was also a well-known soldier and advisor to King Henry VII. His mother was Catherine Marrow, whose father was a Lord Mayor of London.
The Throckmorton family got their name from a place called Throckmorton in Worcestershire. They had lived there since the 1100s. They later gained the Coughton estate in the early 1400s through a marriage.
Marriage and Children
In 1512, Sir George Throckmorton married Katherine Vaux. She was the oldest daughter of Nicholas Vaux, 1st Baron Vaux of Harrowden. Interestingly, Katherine's half-brother was Sir Thomas Parr, who was the father of Queen Catherine Parr. Sir George and Katherine had a very large family with eight sons and nine daughters.

- Sir Robert Throckmorton (born around 1513 – died 1581) was the oldest son. He took over the family estate at Coughton Court.
- Kenelm Throckmorton (born around 1512) was the second son.
- Clement Throckmorton (born around 1512 – died 1573) lived in Haseley, Warwickshire. He had six sons and seven daughters.
- Sir Nicholas Throckmorton (1515–1571) was a famous person at Queen Elizabeth I's court. His daughter, Elizabeth "Bess" Throckmorton, was a lady-in-waiting to the Queen and married the famous explorer Sir Walter Raleigh.
