About the Skiers

Georgia's two athletes competed in para-Nordic skiing. This sport includes cross-country skiing and biathlon (a mix of skiing and shooting). Let's learn more about these amazing individuals.

Temuri Dadiani

Temuri Dadiani is a talented athlete who competes in several sports. Besides para-Nordic skiing, he also enjoys cycling and wheelchair fencing. He even took part in cycling at the 2017 Invictus Games, a special sports event for injured service members.

Temuri holds a Guinness World Record! He achieved this by doing an amazing 44 push-ups in just one minute. Temuri used to be in the military. While serving in Afghanistan in 2011, he was injured by a landmine. This injury led to doctors needing to remove both of his legs. Despite this, he continues to be an inspiring athlete.

Nino Sabashvili

Nino Sabashvili had a big dream: to win a Paralympic medal. Her first sport was para-armwrestling. However, armwrestling is not currently a sport in the Summer or Winter Paralympic Games. To achieve her dream of competing at the Paralympics, Nino decided to try para-Nordic skiing. This sport is part of the Paralympic program.

Nino is very skilled at para-armwrestling. She proved this at the 2016 World Para Armwrestling Championships. At that event, which took place in Blagoevgrad, Bulgaria, she won two silver medals! Her dedication helped her switch sports and aim for the Paralympics.
