Working for National Indigenous Peoples Day

As a Member of Parliament, Ms. Jolibois worked on important issues. One of her main goals was to make National Indigenous Peoples Day a national holiday. This day celebrates the culture and contributions of Indigenous peoples in Canada.

She introduced a bill, which is a proposed law, to make this happen. Even though her specific bill did not pass, her efforts were important. Later, a similar law was passed. This law created the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. It is now a legal holiday observed on September 30.
