Before becoming a politician, Robert Clarke worked for the RCMP for 18 years. He spent all those years working in Saskatchewan. He reached the rank of sergeant in the RCMP.

Political Career

Robert Clarke became a Member of Parliament (MP) in the House of Commons of Canada. This is where elected representatives make laws for Canada. He was elected in a special election called a by-election on March 17, 2008. He ran for the Conservative Party of Canada and won against Liberal candidate Joan Beatty.

Important Law Passed

As an MP, Robert Clarke helped create a new law called the Indian Act Amendment and Replacement Act. This law was a "private member's bill," which means it was proposed by an individual MP, not the government. This bill became a law in December 2014. It aimed to make changes to the Indian Act.
