Georgios Athanasiadis–Novas (Greek: Γεώργιος Αθανασιάδης-Νόβας) was a Greek writer, lawyer, and politician. He was born on February 9, 1893, and passed away on August 10, 1987. He served as the Prime Minister of Greece for a short time in 1965.

Georgios Athanasiadis-Novas's Early Life and Career
Georgios Athanasiadis-Novas was born in a town called Nafpaktos in Greece. He studied law at the University of Athens and became a lawyer.
His political journey began in 1926. He was first elected to the Greek Parliament that year. He represented his home area, Aetolia-Acarnania. He was elected many times and served in parliament until 1964.
Key Government Roles
Athanasiadis-Novas held several important positions in the government. In 1945, he was the Minister for the Interior. This role involves managing internal affairs and public safety.
Later, in 1950, he became the Minister for Education. He was in charge of schools and learning. In 1951, he served as the Minister for Industry, focusing on the country's factories and businesses.
Becoming Prime Minister
In 1961, Georgios Athanasiadis-Novas joined the Center Union political party. Many people joined this party because they were unhappy with the corruption in the government at that time.
In 1964, the Center Union party won the elections. Athanasiadis-Novas then became the Speaker of the Hellenic Parliament. This means he was in charge of leading the discussions and procedures in the Greek Parliament.
On July 15, 1965, King Constantine II chose him to be the Prime Minister of Greece. This happened after the King removed the previous Prime Minister, Georgios Papandreou. This event is known as the Apostasia of 1965.
Challenges as Prime Minister
Many politicians from his party supported Athanasiadis-Novas. He also had support from other conservative politicians. He tried to form a new government.
However, his government did not last long. He failed to get enough votes from the parliament to show they trusted his leadership. This is called a vote of confidence. He was replaced as Prime Minister on August 20, 1965, just over a month after he started.
Later Life and Legacy
In July 1974, Athanasiadis-Novas played a part in ending a period of military rule in Greece. This period was known as the Regime of the Colonels. He helped in the process that led to Constantine Karamanlis becoming Prime Minister. This helped bring democracy back to Greece.
Besides his political work, Athanasiadis-Novas also wrote poems and stories. He used the pen name Georgios Athanas. He passed away in Athens on August 10, 1987, at the age of 94.
