Early Life and College Basketball
Gerald Glass grew up in Greenwood, Mississippi. He graduated from Amanda Elzy High School when he was just sixteen years old. Even at a young age, people noticed his amazing basketball skills. Coach Davey Whitney from Alcorn State University once said that Gerald was the best player in all of Mississippi!
Playing for Delta State and Ole Miss
Gerald started his college basketball journey at Delta State University. He played there for two years. After that, he transferred to the University of Mississippi, often called Ole Miss.
At Ole Miss, Gerald really shined. In his junior year, he was one of the top scorers in the entire country, ranking fourth! Even though he only played two seasons for Ole Miss, he became the school's sixth highest scorer of all time. Fans at Ole Miss even gave him the nickname "World Class Glass" because of his incredible talent. He played against other future stars, like Chris Jackson from LSU.

Gerald Glass was chosen by the Minnesota Timberwolves in the 1990 NBA draft. He was the 20th player picked overall, which is a great achievement!
Making an Impact as a Rookie
As a rookie (a first-year player), Gerald quickly showed what he could do. In one game against the Los Angeles Lakers, he scored 32 points coming off the bench. This set a new record for the Timberwolves for points scored by a reserve player!
Playing for Other Teams
Gerald played for the Timberwolves for a few seasons. His best season was in 1991–92, when he played in 75 games and averaged 11.5 points per game. Over his four seasons in the NBA, he also played for the Detroit Pistons, New Jersey Nets, and Charlotte Hornets. His NBA career lasted from 1990 to 1996.

After his time in the NBA, Gerald Glass continued to be involved in basketball.
Honors and Coaching
In 2004, Gerald was honored as an SEC Basketball Legend by Chick-fil-A. This award recognized his great college career in the Southeastern Conference (SEC). He was honored alongside other famous basketball players and coaches like Charles Barkley.
Later, Gerald joined the coaching staff at Ole Miss, working with coach Andy Kennedy. He then became the head basketball coach at his old high school, Amanda Elzy High School. He also coached the boys' basketball team at Madison Central High School in Madison, Mississippi, for two seasons.
