Early Basketball Journey
Gerald Glass grew up in Greenwood, Mississippi. He finished high school at Amanda Elzy High School when he was only sixteen years old. Even at a young age, his basketball talent was clear. A coach from another university, Davey Whitney, once called Gerald the best player in Mississippi.
College Star
Gerald started his college basketball career at Delta State University. After playing there for two years, he moved to the University of Mississippi, often called "Ole Miss." At Ole Miss, Gerald became a huge star. In his junior year, he was one of the top scorers in the entire country, ranking fourth nationally.
Even though he only played two seasons at Ole Miss, Gerald scored so many points that he became the sixth highest scorer in the school's history. Fans at Ole Miss even gave him a special nickname: "World Class Glass." He played against other famous college players, like Chris Jackson from LSU.
NBA Career Highlights
Gerald Glass was a highly sought-after player. In the 1990 NBA draft, the Minnesota Timberwolves chose him as the 20th player overall. This was a big moment for him, starting his professional basketball journey.
Rookie Season Success
As a rookie, Gerald quickly showed his skills. He set a special record for the Timberwolves team. Coming off the bench as a substitute player, he scored an amazing 32 points in one game against the Los Angeles Lakers. This was the most points ever scored by a reserve player for the Timberwolves at that time.
Gerald played for the Timberwolves for a few seasons. His best year in the NBA was during the 1991-92 NBA season. He played in 75 games that season and averaged 11.5 points per game. This means he scored about 11 or 12 points in each game he played.
