Gerald McBoing-Boing is a fun animated children's television series. It was made in both Canada and the United States. The show is based on a classic 1950 cartoon called Gerald McBoing-Boing.

This cartoon first aired on Cartoon Network in the United States on August 22, 2005. In Canada, it started on Teletoon on August 29, 2005. The show later played again on Boomerang from 2006 to 2009. It keeps the cool art style of the original cartoon, but with more details.

About Gerald and His Friends

Gerald is a special kid because he doesn't talk with words. Instead, he makes all sorts of sounds! Unlike the old cartoons, everyone in this show thinks his sounds are awesome.

Who are Gerald's friends?

Gerald has two friends who can talk: Janine and Jacob. He also has a dog named Burp. Guess what Burp does? He only burps! Someone, usually Gerald's mom, always says "excuse me" afterward. Gerald's parents are also important characters in the show.

How the Show is Made

Each episode of Gerald McBoing-Boing is about 11 minutes long. It's filled with short stories or "vignettes." Some of these stories are "fantasy tales" that rhyme, just like a Dr. Seuss book! There are also funny sound checks, jokes, and parts that show Gerald's everyday life.

The show was produced in Canada by Cookie Jar Entertainment. Robin Budd directed the series. John Derevlany was in charge of the stories and writing. The animation was done by Mercury Filmworks in Ottawa and Vancouver. Ray Parker and Tom Szczesniak created all the music for the show.

Meet the Voice Actors

These are the talented people who gave voices to the characters:

  • Linda Ballantyne as Gerald's Mother
  • Patrick McKenna as Gerald's Father
  • Samantha Weinstein as Janine
