Gerard Vianen (born February 9, 1944 – died December 10, 2014) was a professional road bicycle racer from the Netherlands. He was known as a domestique. A domestique is a special kind of cyclist who helps their team leader win races. They might carry water, block the wind, or even give their bike to the leader if needed.
Gerard Vianen helped famous cyclists like Joop Zoetemelk and Raymond Poulidor. Even though his main job was to help others, he also won some big races himself. He won one stage in the Tour de France and three stages in the Vuelta a España.
Gerard Vianen passed away on December 10, 2014, when he was 70 years old. He died from leukemia.
