Life of Germán Bleiberg
Germán Bleiberg was born in Madrid, Spain, and he also passed away there. He first studied at a college in Germany. Later, he earned a special degree and a doctorate in Philosophy and Letters from the University of Madrid.
Life During the Spanish Civil War
During the Spanish Civil War, Germán Bleiberg served on the Republican side. In 1938, he won the National Theater Prize. He shared this award with another famous writer, Miguel Hernández, for a play that is now lost.
Life After the War and in the USA
After the war ended, Germán Bleiberg moved to the United States. There, he became a professor. He taught at Notre Dame University and New York University.
Notable Works and Collaborations
Some of his well-known poetry collections include "Sonetos amorosos" (1936), "Más allá de las ruinas" (1947), "La mutua primavera" (1948), and "Selección de poemas" (1975).
