Ghermanville is a small, quiet place located in the northeastern part of Iron County, Missouri. It is known as an unincorporated community. This means it does not have its own local government, like a city or town would. Instead, it is managed as part of the larger county area.
You can find Ghermanville about half a mile east of another community called Graniteville. It is right next to Missouri Route 21, which is a main road in the area.
A Look Back: Ghermanville's History
Ghermanville has a short but interesting history. A post office was opened there in 1889. A post office was very important back then. It helped people send and receive letters and packages. It also served as a central meeting spot for the community.
However, the post office in Ghermanville did not stay open for very long. It closed its doors just five years later, in 1894. The community itself was given its name to honor a local merchant. A merchant is someone who buys and sells goods, like a shopkeeper.
