Adventures on the Ghost Train
The show's main idea was about a presenter named Frances Dodge. She inherited a special ghost train from her grandmother. Frances, along with her friends Paul J Medford and Sabra Williams, had to get the train away from a bad guy. This villain was called Barry Mafia (played by Joe Hall).
Characters and the Plot
Inside the train, they found a surprised character named Gerard (played by Angelo Abela). He was known as the aliens' favorite broadcaster. There was also a talking sheep puppet named Nobby. Nobby was voiced and operated by Simon Buckley. Barry Mafia and his helpers, the Mafiaettes, were always trying to get the Ghost Train back.
Frances and her friends used the train as a cool place for their show. They had special guests and live music performances. They also showed popular cartoons. Some of these cartoons included Scooby-Doo, The Real Ghostbusters, and The Trap Door.
The Train's Journey and Ending
Barry Mafia tried many times to capture the Ghost Train. At the end of the second season, he finally got it back. But Frances managed to get the train back from him in the third season. The series ended with a big cliffhanger. The whole crew was sent to an alien planet.
Nobby the sheep later appeared in another TV show. It was called Gimme 5. However, the cliffhanger from Ghost Train was never resolved.
Sunday Morning Fun
There was also a special Sunday morning version of the show. It was called Ghost Train on Sunday. This spin-off series aired in 1989. It was made by Border Television. The show was presented by Shauna Lowry.
