Ghukas Chubaryan (Armenian: Ղուկաս Չուբարյան; 1923 – March 23, 2009) was a very important Armenian sculptor. He was known as a People's Artist of Armenia, which means he was highly respected for his artistic talent. He created many artworks that became famous symbols of Yerevan, the capital city of Armenia.

Ghukas Chubaryan was born in 1923 in Yerevan, Armenia. He became a sculptor, an artist who creates three-dimensional forms, often by carving or molding. His work helped shape the look of Yerevan for many years.
Famous Sculptures and Works
Chubaryan became widely known in 1968. This was after his large statue of Mesrop Mashtots was placed in front of the Matenadaran. The Matenadaran is a famous museum and research center in Yerevan that holds ancient Armenian manuscripts. The statue is made of basalt, a type of volcanic rock.
Artworks in Yerevan
Ghukas Chubaryan was one of the most important Armenian artists after the time of Stalin in the Soviet Union. He also created beautiful decorations for the government building in the 1950s. Later, in the 1980s, he designed the front of the Yerevan Opera House.
He is also famous for his statues of important Armenian figures:
- Hovhannes Tumanyan: Chubaryan created monuments for this famous writer. You can find these statues in Tumanyan's birthplace, Dsegh, Armenia, and in front of Tumanyan's museum in Yerevan.
- Alexander Spendiaryan: He also sculpted monuments for this well-known composer. These statues are located in Opera House Square and in front of the Musical School named after Alexander Spendiaryan in Yerevan.
