Giave is a small town, also called a comune, in the Sardinia region of Italy. It is located in the Province of Sassari. Giave is about 140 kilometers (87 miles) north of Cagliari. It is also about 35 kilometers (22 miles) southeast of Sassari.
As of December 31, 2004, Giave had a population of 655 people. The town covers an area of about 47.1 square kilometers (18.2 square miles).
Giave shares its borders with several other towns. These include Bonorva, Cheremule, Cossoine, Thiesi, and Torralba.
Population Changes in Giave
The number of people living in Giave has changed a lot over the years. In the late 1800s and early 1900s, the population was much higher. For example, in 1911, over 2,000 people lived there.
However, since then, the population has slowly decreased. By 2001, the number of residents was around 692. This shows a trend of fewer people living in Giave over the last century.
