Gibshill is a neighborhood in Scotland. It's located in the eastern part of Greenock and is very close to Port Glasgow. People sometimes call it The Gibby or Spam Island. This area has been changing a lot, with many new homes being built.

Gibshill: A Changing Community

What is Gibshill?

Gibshill is a part of Greenock, a town in Scotland. It's known as a housing estate, which means it's an area with many homes. It's located in the Inverclyde Council Area. You can easily reach Gibshill by train, as it has its own station called Bogston railway station.

Since 2012, Gibshill has been getting a big makeover. Many streets, like East Street and Dalmally Street, have been updated. New houses have been built on almost every street. This has helped change Gibshill into a more modern area. Now, most of the homes are privately owned.

New Homes and Modern Changes

Gibshill is still being redeveloped today. In the past, many homes were in large apartment buildings called tenements. But many of these old buildings have been taken down. Now, there are big grassy areas where houses used to stand.

New homes are being built for both the local council and for private owners. Some new houses are already finished on Cobham Street and Bell Street. More new homes are being built on Lansbury Street. There are also plans for many more private houses on the eastern side of Gibshill.

Wildlife in Gibshill

As the area changes, more wildlife is appearing in Gibshill. You might see many rabbits hopping around. Deer also come into the area from the nearby moors. It's cool to see nature thriving in a changing neighborhood.
