Club History and Achievements
Gimnástica Medinense was founded in 1960. Back then, its full name was Sociedad Deportiva Gimnástica Medinense. Just two years later, in 1962, the club won its league and was promoted to the Tercera División. This was a higher level of football in Spain.
The team played in this fourth-tier league for five seasons. After that, they moved back down to the regional leagues. However, they worked hard and returned to the fourth tier in 1980.
Reaching the Third Division
In 1988, Gimnástica Medinense made history. They were promoted to the Segunda División B for the first time ever. This was Spain's third-highest football division. Even though they were immediately relegated back down, it was a big moment for the club. They are still the only club from the province of Valladolid (outside the city itself) to have played in the third division.
