Gina Carey is an American filmmaker and singer. She sings soul, R&B, and gospel music. She lives in Palm Springs, California. She used to be known as Gina Green, but changed her name after getting married.

Gina Carey was born in Chicago and grew up in Los Angeles. She has a younger sister named Bella Maori. Bella is an actress and writer. She even created a TV show called “Ugly” that won awards!

Gina Carey is a filmmaker who runs her own company called Gina Carey Films. This company makes indie movies. As of 2019, Gina Carey Films has made six full-length movies!

Her company is based in the Coachella Valley. They use local actors and resources to make their films. Gina was the first African-American female filmmaker in Palm Springs. She taught herself how to make movies and used her own money to start. Later, she built Gina Carey Films into a successful company.

The first movie from Gina Carey Films was “The Unexpected.” It came out in 2016. After that, they made other indie films like “One Year Pact.”

In 2017, Gina started the first annual CV (Coachella Valley) Indie Film Awards. This event celebrates independent filmmakers who make movies on a smaller budget. The awards continued in 2018.

Singing and Music

Gina has created 14 music albums. Three of them are gospel albums, and 11 are soul music albums. She also has 5 hit songs that reached number one on the music charts in the UK!

Her first album, In His Time, was released in 1997. Back then, she was known as Gina Brown. This album sold over 10,000 copies around the world. It was very popular in Europe, reaching number two on the U.K. Gospel charts.

In 2003, she released Changes on her own. It sold quite well. Her album Tell 'Um was released in 2006. Songs like "Hiding Place" and "Testimony" were played on the radio in the U.S. and Europe. Famous music producers worked on her Changes and Tell 'Um albums.

Gina has recorded three albums as Gina Green: In His Time, Changes, and Tell 'Um. People know her for her lively personality and smooth singing voice. Her music mixes modern R&B with 1970s soul and hip hop. This creates a unique gospel sound called neo soul.

Gina has performed with many other gospel artists. She is also the founder and CEO of Gico Music. This is her own independent music and entertainment company.

Gina Carey has won many awards for her music and films.

In 2006, she was nominated for two awards by the Black Music Academy Association of America. She won the "Las Vegas Black Music Awards 2006 Best Gospel Performer - Female" award. Later that year, she auditioned for the TV show America's Got Talent. In 2008, Gina also auditioned for Showtime at the Apollo in Los Angeles, California, and was chosen to be on the show.
