How the Gitxaała Nation is Governed
The Gitxaała Nation has a special way of governing itself. They have two main groups that work together. These groups are the Governing Council and the Hereditary Table. This system helps them make decisions for their community.
The Governing Council
The Governing Council is made up of seven members. These members are chosen by the community through elections. Their main job is to manage daily services for the people. This includes things like housing, public works (like roads and buildings), and health services. They make sure the community has what it needs to live well.
The Hereditary Table
The Hereditary Table is also very important. It is called Na hali Txooxgm sayt wan Sm'gygyet in their language. This group gives advice to the Governing Council.
