A Tragic Day
Giulio Cabianca's life ended in a very sad accident on June 15, 1961. This happened while he was testing a Cooper-Ferrari Formula One car at the Modena Autodrome test track in Italy. The track was located close to a public road called Via Emilia.
During the test, it's believed that the car's gearbox failed. This made it impossible for Giulio to stop the car. The Cooper car went off the track and crashed through an open gate, which was open because some workers were nearby. The car then crossed the Via Emilia road, hitting several other vehicles. Sadly, it then crashed into the wall of a building. Giulio Cabianca died in the accident. Also, a minivan driver, a motorcycle rider, and a bicyclist were killed in this tragic event.
