Giuseppe Wilson (born Joseph Wilson, 27 October 1945 – 6 March 2022) was an Italian footballer. People also called him Pino Wilson. He played as a centre back, which means he was a defensive player. Even though he was born in Northern England, he played most of his football career in Italy.
Wilson played for clubs like Internapoli and Lazio. He also played for the Italian national team three times in 1974.

Early Life of Giuseppe Wilson
Giuseppe Wilson was born in Darlington, England. His mother, Lina Di Francesca, was from Naples, Italy. His father, Dennis Wilson, was English and worked in a factory. They met when Dennis was a soldier in Italy.
When Joseph was only six months old, his family moved to Naples. This was his mother's hometown. She found the cold winters in the United Kingdom difficult. His father got a job as a supervisor at a NATO base there.
Club Football Career
Playing for Internapoli and Lazio
Wilson started his football journey with Internapoli in the 1964–65 season. He played over 150 games for this team.
In 1969, he joined S.S. Lazio. This was where he had his most successful time as a footballer. He stayed with Lazio for ten years, playing more than 300 games. During this period, Lazio achieved great things. They won their first ever Serie A title in the 1973–74 season. They also won the Coppa delle Alpi in 1971.
Time with New York Cosmos
Towards the end of his career, Wilson played in the United States. He joined the New York Cosmos in the NASL league in 1978. He helped the team win the league title that year. Wilson was even named the best defensive player in the Soccer Bowl '78 final game.
Playing for Inter Montreal
In 1983, he moved to Canada. He joined FC Inter-Montréal in the Canadian Professional Soccer League.
International Football Career
Wilson's great performances with Lazio helped him get a spot on the Italian national team. He was part of the squad for the 1974 FIFA World Cup.
He played his first game for Italy in 1974. It was a friendly match against West Germany that ended in a 0–0 draw. He played two games at the 1974 World Cup. In total, he played three times for Italy.
Life After Football and Passing
After retiring from playing, Wilson worked as a sports expert for Rai, an Italian TV company. In 2013, a sports journalist named Vincenzo Di Michele wrote a book about Wilson. It was called "Pino Wilson: a True Captain from Another Era."
Giuseppe Wilson passed away on March 6, 2022, in Rome. He was 76 years old and died from a stroke.
