How Glacio Started

Glacio's story began in 1972. A factory was built to make ice cream. This ice cream was sold door-to-door and to restaurants. It was known by the brand name Pinti.

Changes Over the Years

In 1983, a company called Schöller GmbH bought Pinti. They started making ice cream in Beerse under the Mövenpick name. By 1996, the Beerse factory became a special center. It focused on making smaller, different kinds of ice cream. This was for restaurants and home delivery.

In 2000, a new company was started in Japan. It was called Schöller Japan Frozen Foods KK.

Just one year later, in 2001, Nestle S.A. bought Schöller Holding. The Beerse factory helped Nestle become stronger in Europe.

Becoming Glacio NV

In 2003, the managers of the company bought it from Nestle. This is called a Management buyout. From January 1, 2004, the company became known as Glacio NV.

Glacio grew bigger in 2011. They opened a sales office in France. In 2012, a German company, DMK Group, bought one-third of Glacio's shares. This made the two companies work even closer together.

That same year, Glacio opened an office in Hong Kong. This helped them grow in Asian markets.

Taking Over Other Companies

In 2013, ten years after the management buyout, Glacio's leaders decided to buy the Belgian Icecream Group. This group was very popular in Belgium. It owned the famous IJsboerke ice cream brand.

Also in 2013, Glacio opened its first ice cream shop. It was in the K11 mall in Hong Kong.
