Glacio NV is a company from Beerse, Belgium, that makes delicious ice cream! They are known for making special kinds of ice cream. In February 2013, Glacio took over another big ice cream company called the Belgian Icecream Group.

How Glacio Started

Glacio's story began in 1972. That's when a factory was built to make ice cream for homes and restaurants. This ice cream was sold under the name Pinti.

Changes and Growth

In 1983, a company called Schöller GmbH bought Pinti. They started making ice cream in Beerse under the Mövenpick name. Later, in 1996, this factory became a special center for Europe. It focused on making smaller, unique batches of ice cream for restaurants and home delivery.

In 2000, a new part of the company was started in Japan. It was called Schöller Japan Frozen Foods KK.

Just one year later, in 2001, a very big company called Nestlé S.A. bought Schöller. The factory in Beerse helped Nestlé become stronger in the European restaurant market.

Becoming Glacio NV

In 2003, the people who managed the company bought it from Nestlé. This is called a management buyout. From January 1, 2004, the company became known as Glacio NV.

Glacio kept growing! In 2011, they opened a sales office in France. In 2012, a German company called DMK Group bought one-third of Glacio's shares. This made the two companies work even more closely together.

Also in 2012, Glacio opened an office in Hong Kong. This helped them sell more ice cream in Asian countries.

Big Takeover in 2013

Ten years after the management buyout, in 2013, Glacio's leaders decided to buy the Belgian Icecream Group. This group was very well known in Belgium for its IJsboerke ice cream brand.

In 2013, Glacio also opened its first ice cream shop. It was in the K11 mall in Hong Kong.

Glacio's Delicious Products

Glacio ice cream is sold all over the world. It is known for its special European style. They have many traditional European flavors. These include Belgian chocolate and Rote Grütze, which is a popular German flavor. Glacio ice cream is known as a "super-premium" brand. This means it is very high quality and extra special.

Glacio mainly makes ice cream for restaurants, home delivery, and stores. The company focuses on making unique, handmade-style products. They do this on a large scale in their factory.

In 2012, the famous singer Madonna tried Glacio's ice cream in Belgium. She loved it so much that she asked her manager to fly some to her in Moscow!

Glacio's Awards

Glacio has won some important awards for its ice cream.

• In 2005, Glacio won the Grand gold medal from Monde Selection. This was for their product called ‘Temptations Ice Pralines’.
• In 2013, Glacio won a ‘preferred supplier’ award from Nestlé Germany. This meant Glacio was one of Nestlé's top 20 suppliers. Nestlé works with more than 16,000 companies around the world!
