Rutherglen (later called Glasgow Rutherglen from 1983) was a special area in Scotland. This area elected a person to represent it in the House of Commons. This is part of the UK Parliament, where laws are made.
The Rutherglen area was represented from 1918 until 2005. After 2005, most of this area became part of a new constituency called Rutherglen and Hamilton West. Smaller parts joined Glasgow Central and Glasgow South.
Good news for the Rutherglen area! This constituency is planned to be created again. This will happen for the next big election in the UK. It will take over from the Rutherglen and Hamilton West area.
