Glen Anthony Rice Jr. (born January 1, 1991) is an American professional basketball player. He was chosen in the 2013 NBA draft by the Philadelphia 76ers. However, he was quickly traded to the Washington Wizards on the same night. Rice played college basketball for the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets. He is the son of NBA All-Star Glen Rice.
Rice was a top player in high school in Cobb County, Georgia. He was named player of the year as a junior. He also earned All-State honors in his junior and senior years. Before joining the NBA, he played for the Rio Grande Valley Vipers in the NBA Development League (D-League). He helped the Vipers win a D-League championship in 2013. He was also named MVP of the 2018 Israeli State Cup. He led the Israeli League in scoring that year.

High School Basketball Journey
As a junior in 2008, Glen Rice Jr. was recognized as the best high school basketball player in Cobb County. This was reported by the Marietta Daily Journal. He also received All-State honorable mention from The Atlanta Journal-Constitution. When he signed his commitment in November 2008, he was seen as a player who was getting better quickly. In his senior year, he was again an All-State selection.
Experts ranked Rice as one of the best high school shooting guards in the country in 2009. He was part of a strong group of new players joining Georgia Tech. This group was ranked 21st in the nation. It also included future NBA player Derrick Favors.
College Basketball Career

Glen Rice Jr. started his college career on the bench. But he soon became a starter for the 2009–10 Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets men's basketball team. He played in almost every game. He scored ten or more points six times. This included a game in the 2010 NCAA Men's Division I Basketball Tournament. He had his best games as a freshman against Clemson. In that game, he scored 17 points, grabbed 8 rebounds, and made 4 assists. He started the last 11 games of his first season. Rice was also recognized for his good grades.
As a sophomore, Rice scored 20 points or more in six games. He was second on his team in minutes played, points, rebounds, assists, and steals. He was among the top players in the ACC conference for scoring and steals. He had three games where he got more than 10 rebounds, which are called double-doubles. He had back-to-back 20-point games in January. Later, he set new personal bests with 12 rebounds and 28 points in separate games. His coach suspended him for the last three games of the season.
For his junior year, Rice was expected to be a key player. He was suspended for the first three games of the 2011–12 season due to team rule violations. When he returned, he often came off the bench as a sixth man. In December, he had three double-doubles in a row. He also set a personal best with 4 blocked shots in one game. He was among the conference leaders in points, rebounds, blocks, and steals. In January, he tied his career high with 28 points against #3 Duke. He had another 20-point game right after that. Rice was later sidelined with a foot injury. After returning for a few games, he was suspended again for non-basketball issues. His coach dismissed him from the team in March due to serious team rule violations.
Professional Basketball Journey
Rio Grande Valley Vipers (2012–2013)
Glen Rice Jr. was chosen in the fourth round of the NBA Development League draft in November 2012. He joined the Rio Grande Valley Vipers and played his first professional game on November 23. Early in the season, he didn't play much. However, in February, he had a breakout game with 35 points and 15 rebounds. He also took part in the D-League Dunk Contest.
In March, Rice had several strong performances. He recorded 20 points and 14 rebounds in one game, and 29 points and 11 rebounds in another. He was named D-League Player of the Week for his excellent play. After the regular season, he was selected for the 2012–13 NBA D-League All-Rookie second team. Rice became a starter and helped the Vipers win the 2013 NBA D-League championship. In the playoffs, he averaged 25 points, 9.5 rebounds, and 4.3 assists.
Washington Wizards (2013–2015)
After his strong D-League season, Glen Rice Jr. became a potential pick for the 2013 NBA draft. He was one of 60 players invited to the NBA Draft Combine. On June 27, 2013, the Philadelphia 76ers drafted him with the 35th pick. However, he was immediately traded to the Washington Wizards. He was the highest-drafted player from the D-League at that time.
On July 8, 2013, Rice signed with the Washington Wizards. He played well in the 2013 NBA Summer League. He even had two "Sprite Dunk of the Day" highlights. Rice made his NBA debut on November 12, 2013, against the Dallas Mavericks. He scored his first NBA points with a three-pointer. In December, he got his first NBA start due to other players being injured. He scored 7 points and had 3 steals in that game. Later that month, he had surgery for a fractured wrist and missed several weeks.
In January 2014, Rice was sent to the Iowa Energy of the NBA D-League to help him recover. He played well there, averaging 24.3 points and 10.3 rebounds. He was called back to the Wizards later that month. He was sent back to the Iowa Energy in February and recalled by the Wizards in April.
For the 2014 NBA Summer League, Rice led the league in scoring with 25 points per game. He also averaged 7.8 rebounds and 2.5 steals. He was named to the NBA All-Summer League 1st team and won the NBA Summer League MVP award. Despite his strong Summer League performance, he was expected to have limited playing time in the 2014–15 season. In November 2014, he was assigned to the Fort Wayne Mad Ants of the NBA Development League. The Wizards waived him in January 2015.
Return to Rio Grande Valley (2015)
On January 12, 2015, Glen Rice Jr. returned to the Rio Grande Valley Vipers for his second time with the team.
TNT KaTropa (2017)
In August 2017, Rice signed with TNT KaTropa in the Philippine Basketball Association. His time with the team ended with some issues. He was removed from a key playoff game after a disciplinary incident. In October 2017, he left the country without speaking to team officials. The team later fined him for "unprofessional behavior." He sent an apology letter to the team.
Hapoel Holon (2017–2018)
On October 23, 2017, Rice signed with the Israeli team Hapoel Holon for the 2017–18 season. In November, he had an amazing game with 43 points and 11 rebounds. In February 2018, he scored 28 points and made a game-winning shot in the 2018 Israeli Cup Final. This helped Holon win their second Israeli Cup title. Rice was named the Final MVP for his performance. A few days later, he scored 27 points and made a buzzer-beating shot to send a game into overtime.
During his season with Holon, Rice was the league's top scorer, averaging 24.5 points per game. He also averaged 7.9 rebounds, 4.7 assists, and 1.9 steals. He was named Israeli League Player of the Month twice and MVP of the Round four times. In April 2018, Holon released Rice due to disciplinary reasons after an incident with a teammate. However, he returned to Hapoel Holon for the 2018 Israeli League Final Four in June.
Playing in Central and South America (2018–2019)
In June 2018, Rice signed with Caciques de Humacao in Puerto Rico. He played in two games before leaving due to a back injury. In November 2018, he joined the Aguacateros de Michoacán in Mexico. In his first game, he scored 34 points, helping his team win.
In February 2019, Rice signed with the Argentine team Instituto Atlético Central Córdoba. He played in five games before leaving the team in March. Later that month, he signed with Plaza Valerio in the Dominican Santiago League.
New Zealand Breakers (2019)
On November 5, 2019, Rice signed with the New Zealand Breakers in Australia's NBL. He was an injury replacement player. After playing in two games, his contract was terminated in December due to off-court incidents. In his three games with the Breakers, Rice averaged 25 points per game.
Al-Fateh (2020)
In January 2020, Rice moved to Saudi Arabia to play for Al-Fateh.
Juventus Utena (2020)
On August 19, 2020, Rice signed with Juventus Utena in the Lithuanian Basketball League. He played one friendly game, scoring 10 points. After only 10 days with the team, Juventus and Glen Rice Jr. parted ways due to disagreements with the team.
Maccabi Haifa (2021–22)
On December 3, 2021, Rice signed with Maccabi Haifa in the Israeli Basketball National League. The club released him on January 26, 2022, after a disciplinary incident during a game.
Power (2022)
On May 25, 2022, Rice was the first player chosen in the 2022 BIG3 draft by the team Power.

Personal Life
Glen Rice Jr. is the son of Glen Rice Sr. and Tracey Starwood. His father, Glen Rice Sr., was a famous basketball player. He was the top scorer for Michigan and led them to a National Championship in 1989. He also played 15 seasons in the NBA and won a championship with the Los Angeles Lakers in 2000. Glen Rice Jr. has a younger brother named G'mitri. In December 2015, he appeared on season 8 of the TV show The Real Housewives of Atlanta.
