Glen Anthony Rice Jr. (born January 1, 1991) is an American professional basketball player. He currently plays for the Cocodrilos de Caracas team in Venezuela. Glen was chosen in the 2013 NBA draft by the Philadelphia 76ers. However, he was quickly traded to the Washington Wizards on the same night. Before joining the NBA, Rice played college basketball for the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets. He also played for the Rio Grande Valley Vipers in the NBA Development League, where he helped them win a championship in 2013. Glen Rice Jr. is the son of famous NBA All-Star player Glen Rice.

Early Life and High School Basketball
Glen Rice Jr. grew up playing basketball. As a junior in high school, he was named the best boy's player in Cobb County, Georgia, in 2008. He also earned All-State honors in both his junior and senior years. Experts ranked him as one of the top shooting guards in the country in 2009.
Rice was part of a strong group of new players joining Georgia Tech. This group was ranked 21st in the nation. His high school, George Walton Comprehensive High School, was a strong team. However, they did not win a state championship during his senior year, despite some reports.

College Basketball Career

Glen Rice Jr. started his college career at Georgia Tech. In his first year, he became a starter and played in almost every game. He scored ten or more points six times. He also had a great game against Clemson with 17 points, 8 rebounds, and 4 assists. He was recognized for his good grades on the ACC All-Academic team.
During his second year, Rice had six games where he scored 20 points or more. He was second on his team in many stats, like points, rebounds, and assists. He also had three games where he got a "double-double" (scoring ten or more points and ten or more rebounds). His coach suspended him for the last three games of that season.
In his third year, Rice was expected to be a top player. He was suspended for the first three games due to team rules. When he returned, he often came off the bench as a "sixth man." He had several more double-doubles. He also tied his career high with 28 points against Duke. Later in the season, he was suspended again for non-basketball reasons.
Professional Basketball Journey
Starting in the D-League
Glen Rice Jr. began his professional career in the NBA Development League (now G League). He was drafted by the Rio Grande Valley Vipers in November 2012. He quickly showed his talent, scoring 35 points and grabbing 15 rebounds in one game.
He also participated in the D-League Dunk Contest. Rice became a key player for the Vipers. He helped them win 16 games in a row and then the 2013 D-League championship. In the playoffs, he averaged 25 points and 9.5 rebounds.
Playing for the Washington Wizards
After his great performance in the D-League, Glen Rice Jr. was drafted into the NBA. The Philadelphia 76ers picked him 35th overall in the 2013 NBA Draft. However, he was immediately traded to the Washington Wizards. This made him the highest-drafted player from the D-League at that time.
He signed with the Wizards in July 2013. He played well in the NBA Summer League, even winning "Dunk of the Day" twice. Rice made his NBA debut in November 2013. He scored his first NBA points with a three-pointer. He even started his first NBA game in December, scoring 7 points. Later, he was sent to the D-League for a short time to help him recover from an injury.
In the 2014 NBA Summer League, Rice was outstanding. He led the league in scoring with 25 points per game. He also averaged 7.8 rebounds and 2.5 steals. He was named the NBA Summer League MVP. Despite this, he had limited playing time with the Wizards during the regular season. He was later waived by the team in January 2015.
International and Other Teams
After his time with the Wizards, Rice returned to the Rio Grande Valley Vipers. He then played for many teams around the world. In 2017, he joined TNT KaTropa in the Philippines. His time there ended with some disagreements.
Later in 2017, he signed with Hapoel Holon in Israel. He had an amazing season there. He scored a career-high 43 points in one game. He also led Holon to win the 2018 Israeli Cup, where he was named the Final MVP. Rice was the top scorer in the Israeli League that season, averaging 24.5 points per game. He was named Player of the Month twice. His time with Holon ended in April 2018.
After Israel, Rice played for teams in Central and South America. He joined Caciques de Humacao in Puerto Rico and Aguacateros de Michoacán in Mexico. In 2019, he played for Instituto Atlético Central Córdoba in Argentina and Plaza Valerio in the Dominican Republic.
In November 2019, he signed with the New Zealand Breakers in Australia. He played a few games there before his contract ended. In 2020, he played for Al-Fateh in Saudi Arabia and Juventus Utena in Lithuania. In 2021, he joined Maccabi Haifa in Israel. In 2022, he was the first overall pick in the BIG3 draft, joining the team Power. He currently plays for Cocodrilos de Caracas.

Family Life
Glen Rice Jr. is the son of Glen Rice Sr. and Tracey Starwood. His father, Glen Rice Sr., was a very famous basketball player. He led the Michigan Wolverines to a National Championship in 1989. He also played 15 seasons in the NBA and won a championship with the Los Angeles Lakers in 2000. Glen Rice Jr. also has a younger brother named G'mitri.
