The Story of Glengarry
Glengarry has an interesting past! One of the first important things to happen was the opening of its Post Office on December 1, 1878. Imagine sending letters back then! The name "Glengarry" actually comes from Scotland. It's named after a place there, showing a connection to Scottish heritage. Glengarry officially became known as a "locality" (a specific area) in 1966. This means it was formally recognized on maps and for local government purposes.
Glengarry's Landscape
Glengarry is surrounded by natural beauty. The Supply River helps form the northern edge of the area. Another waterway, Tunks Creek, flows through Glengarry from the south to the north. This creek is a smaller stream that eventually joins the Supply River.
Getting Around Glengarry
The main road that goes through Glengarry is called Frankford Road (also known as Route B71). It runs from the north-east part of Glengarry towards the south-west. There are also two other important roads that connect to Frankford Road. Lamont Road (Route C716) starts from Frankford Road and heads north-west out of the area. Glengarry Road (Route C718) also starts from Frankford Road but goes north until it leaves Glengarry.
