Braggs hit his first of 70 career home runs on August 2, 1986. This was a two-run shot that helped his team. His best season came in 1989. That year, he hit 15 home runs and had 66 runs batted in (RBI). He also stole 17 bases and had a .247 batting average.
Joining the Cincinnati Reds
In 1990, Braggs was traded to the Cincinnati Reds from the Brewers. He joined the Reds on June 9, 1990. He quickly became an important player for the team. He helped the Reds reach the National League playoffs. With the Reds, he hit six home runs and had 28 RBI. His batting average was .299.
Amazing Catch in the Playoffs
In the 1990 playoffs, Braggs made a truly memorable play. It was Game 6 of the National League Championship Series against the Pittsburgh Pirates. In the ninth inning, with the Reds barely leading, Braggs made an incredible catch. He robbed Carmelo Martinez of a possible game-tying home run. Braggs reached up and caught the ball as his back hit the wall. This amazing catch helped the Reds win the game and move on to the World Series.
Winning the World Series
The Reds then faced the Oakland Athletics in the 1990 World Series. The Athletics were expected to win, but the Reds surprised everyone. Even though Braggs didn't get any hits in the World Series, he still helped the team. He had two RBI and drew one base on balls. The Reds won the World Series, becoming champions!
Final MLB Games
Glenn Braggs played two more seasons for the Reds after their World Series win. His final MLB game was on September 10, 1992. In a cool moment, he hit a home run in his very last at-bat.
