Glennes was once a small village located in the Aisne department in northern France. It was known as a "commune," which is like a local government area in France.

On January 1, 2016, Glennes officially joined with other nearby villages to form a new, larger commune called Les Septvallons. This means Glennes no longer exists as a separate commune but is now part of a bigger community.

Where Was Glennes Located?

Glennes was situated in the department of Aisne. This area is in the northern part of France. The village was part of the Soissons arrondissement and the Braine canton, which are administrative divisions in France.

Its location was about 150 meters (around 492 feet) above sea level. The land around Glennes varied in height, from a low of 71 meters (233 feet) to a high of 193 meters (633 feet). The total area of Glennes was about 8.57 square kilometers (3.31 square miles).

A Look at Glennes' Population

Like many small villages, the number of people living in Glennes changed over the years. Here's a quick look at how its population changed:

  • In 1962, there were 162 people.
  • By 1975, the population had dropped to 136.
  • It stayed around that number for a while, with 129 people in 1990.
  • By 1999, it grew slightly to 143 residents.
  • In 2008, the population saw a bigger increase, reaching 214 people.
  • Just before it merged, in 2021, Glennes had 228 residents.

This shows that while Glennes was a small community, its population saw some growth in its later years before becoming part of Les Septvallons.
