Early Boxing Days
Glenwood Brown started his boxing journey at the Plainfield Boys Club in Plainfield, New Jersey. He trained hard and became very good. In 1986, he won a big competition called the New York Golden Gloves. He was the champion in the 139-pound weight class. To win, he beat another boxer named Raul Rivera in the final match.
Professional Career
Glenwood Brown was known by the nickname "The Real Beast" when he became a professional boxer in 1986.
First Title Fights
His first chance to win a major championship came in 1991. He fought against Maurice Blocker for the IBF welterweight title, which was empty at the time. Glenwood lost this fight by a "split decision," meaning the judges were divided on who won.
In his very next fight in 1992, he faced Meldrick Taylor, who held the WBA welterweight title. Even though Glenwood knocked Meldrick down twice during the fight, he still lost the match by decision.
Becoming a Champion
Glenwood Brown continued to box and achieved a big goal in 1995. He won the IBO Middleweight Championship. This was a major title for him. However, after winning this title, he never fought for another major championship again.
Retirement
Glenwood Brown retired from boxing in the year 2000. His last fight was a TKO (Technical Knockout) loss to Scott Pemberton. A TKO happens when the referee stops the fight because one boxer can no longer safely continue.
