Maurice Blocker (born May 15, 1963) is an American former professional boxer. He competed in boxing from 1982 to 1995. Maurice Blocker was a two-time world champion in the welterweight division. He held the WBC title from 1990 to 1991. He also held the IBF title from 1991 to 1992.

Starting as a Professional Boxer
Maurice Blocker began his career as a professional boxer in 1982. A professional boxer is someone who competes in boxing for money. He worked hard to become one of the best.
Chasing World Titles
In 1987, Maurice Blocker had his first chance to win a world title. He fought against Lloyd Honeyghan but was not able to win the title that time.
However, Maurice kept training and fighting. In 1990, he won the WBC welterweight title from Marlon Starling. This was a huge achievement! A welterweight title is for boxers in a specific weight class.
Winning and Losing Titles
After winning the WBC title, Maurice Blocker lost it in his very next fight to Simon Brown. But he didn't give up.
In 1991, Maurice fought Glenwood Brown and won the vacant IBF welterweight title. This meant he was a world champion again! He successfully defended this title one time against Luis Garcia.
Moving Up in Weight
In 1993, Maurice Blocker decided to move up to a heavier weight class. He challenged Terry Norris for the WBC light middleweight title. Unfortunately, Maurice lost this fight. Later that year, he also lost his IBF welterweight title to Félix Trinidad. Maurice Blocker retired from boxing in 1995.
