Gloria Hendry (born March 3, 1949) is an American actress and former model. She is well-known for her roles in movies from the 1970s. Her most famous parts include playing Rosie Carver in the 1973 James Bond film Live and Let Die. She also played Helen Bradley in the film Black Caesar and its follow-up, Hell Up in Harlem.

Gloria Hendry was born on March 3, 1949. She was born in either Jacksonville or Winter Haven, Florida. Sources have different information about her exact birthplace. She was the older of two sisters. When she was young, her family moved to Newark, New Jersey. They lived there with her grandparents. Gloria later studied law at Essex College of Business.

Her Acting Career

Gloria Hendry started her career working at a famous club in New York City. She worked there from 1965 until 1972. In 1968, she got her first acting job. This was in the film For Love of Ivy, which starred Sidney Poitier. After that, she had a small role in the 1970 movie The Landlord.

In 1973, Gloria Hendry became a well-known actress. She played Rosie Carver in the James Bond film Live and Let Die. In this movie, she made history. She was the first African American woman to have a romantic role with James Bond. Another actress, Trina Parks, was in the previous Bond film. She was considered the first Black Bond girl, but she played a rival to Bond, not a love interest.

Gloria Hendry also starred in several action films in the 1970s. These included Across 110th Street (1972) and Slaughter's Big Rip-Off (1973). She was in Black Caesar and its sequel Hell Up in Harlem, both from 1973. She also played Sydney, a character skilled in martial arts, in Black Belt Jones (1974). Other films she appeared in were Savage Sisters (1974) and Bare Knuckles (1977). Later in her career, she acted in the horror film Pumpkinhead II: Blood Wings (1994).
