Glover River facts for kids
The Glover River is a beautiful river in southeastern Oklahoma, United States. It flows for about 33.2 miles (53.4 km). The Glover River is a tributary of the Little River. This means it flows into the Little River. From there, its waters join the Red River. Eventually, these waters become part of the huge Mississippi River system. The area where all these rivers collect water is called a watershed.
The Glover River is entirely within McCurtain County. It starts when two smaller rivers, called forks, meet. These are the East Fork (about 22.4 miles long) and the West Fork (about 21.3 miles long). Both forks begin in the northern part of McCurtain County. The Glover River then flows until it meets the Little River. This meeting point is about 4.5 miles (7.2 km) southeast of Wright City.

The Glover River is a hidden gem. It is not very well known. This makes it a quiet place to visit. The river has exciting sections with Class I and II rapids. These are perfect for canoeing and kayaking.
Things to Do
You can enjoy canoeing or kayaking on the Glover River. However, it's best to go when the water is high enough. This is usually not in the summer. During summer, the water levels can get too low. The river flows through a heavily forested area. You will see steep bluffs on both sides of the river. This makes for beautiful scenery.
Wildlife and Nature
The Glover River flows through the Three Rivers Wildlife Management Area. This large area covers about 203,215 acres (82,238 ha). The Weyerhaeuser Company owns most of this land. They have planted many Loblolly Pine trees here. If you want to visit these lands, you will need a special permit. This helps protect the natural environment.
