Naval Air Station Glynco

Back in 1942, during World War II, a place called the Naval Air Station Glynco was built here. This was a base where the U.S. Navy trained its pilots and aircrews. It was a very busy place for many years.

Glynco's New Purpose

The Naval Air Station stopped being used in 1974. After that, the land was given new jobs. A large part of the land, about 2,003 acres (which is about 8.1 square kilometers), became the Brunswick Golden Isles Airport. This airport helps people travel to and from the area.

Another big part of the land, about 1,500 acres (about 6.1 square kilometers), became the main home for the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center (FLETC).
