Since 2013, new homes have been built in Gobbagombalin. This part of the suburb is close to Estella. These new areas are sometimes called Estella Rise or Estella Heights, even though Estella is a separate place.

The name Gobbagombalin comes from a traditional story of the Wiradjuri people. This story is about a young man named Gobbagumbalin and a young woman named Pomingalarna.

In the story, Gobbagumbalin and Pomingalarna did not follow important traditional laws. Because of this, they faced serious consequences. The story says that the sound of local frogs singing reminds people of what happened to the couple.
