Goes Station (also known as Goes) is a small, quiet place in Greene County, Ohio, United States. It's called an unincorporated community. This means it's a group of homes and businesses that isn't officially a town or city with its own local government. Goes Station is located in northern Xenia Township.

You can find it where Snively Road meets U.S. Route 68. It's right between the towns of Xenia and Yellow Springs. This community is also part of a larger area called the Dayton Metropolitan Statistical Area. This just means it's connected to the bigger city of Dayton for things like jobs and services.

A Look Back: The History of Goes

Goes Station has an interesting past. A long time ago, in 1872, a post office was opened there. It was first called Goes Station. A post office is where people send and receive letters and packages.

The name of the post office was changed to just Goes in 1894. The name "Goe" came from the last name of a person who settled in the area a long time ago. The post office stayed open for many years, but it finally closed in 1932.

The Railroad and a Powder Company

Goes Station was an important stop, or "depot," on a railroad line. This railroad was called the Springfield and Xenia Railroad. It was built to help a special company called the Miami Powder Company.

The Miami Powder Company had its main operations near the Little Miami River. Goes Station became a "company town" for them. A company town is a place where a company builds homes and services for its workers. This made it easy for the workers to live close to where they worked.
