The company began as the Baltimore Chewing Gum Company. It was founded by August Goetze and his son, William. In 1917, the family created a soft caramel candy. This candy was first called "Chu-ees." Over time, it became their most famous candy, called Caramel Creams. These are also known as Bull's Eyes. They are soft, chewy caramels with a creamy filling inside. Each candy usually comes in a clear wrapper. The ends of the wrapper are twisted with red and white colors.
